Dream #1: Return of the Dead
Share: Christopher was my husband. He was an environmental researcher, very committed to his work. After our divorce, Laura became his wife. He died of prostate cancer.
Dream: I am at Laura's house, and Christopher has come back from the dead. At one point he asks me to take a picture: I have to run. He points to a space, it's really small, about 2.3 meters towards the door. I make a comment, since on such a short distance, running seems difficult, but hey!
He stands behind a suitcase that he has put down, of an old-fashioned size and material (dark, looks more like a briefcase, wider than tall, perhaps wooden). There is still a cover on top. I think then that he wants to have the movement of the legs (I saw the photo he made of Laura: a moving photo.)
At one point I am on his left, I look at him moved, I would like to say something nice to him, to thank him. He has taken care of something else and we return to the picture. I reinstall the suitcase and the blanket. Laura has settled in an armchair, she is knitting, her legs placed horizontally, she asks me for a blanket, because she is cold. There is an orange wool blanket, but the square size is not well suited to fit on her shoulders, I try diagonally, but no.
I take another one, this one can be big and heavy on the suitcase. I offer him the other blanket on the legs, it is light yellow. After I roughly lay it down, I readjust to get it right. Laura is soothed, but I think, "This is just for a while. Christopher won't be here for long; but it feels good." She tells Christopher that she loves him.
Then in preparation for the photo, I think maybe it's the whole body movement he's taking. Is he going to bring a collection of photos? But can he take them with him? Or is he going to make an album with comments for all the people who have passed through his life?
It's as if the two of us are alone; he's standing there and I suddenly ask him, excited that I might ask him about the afterlife, what is he doing now? He answers that he is busy with sports. I am a bit surprised, it doesn't look like him; he looks a bit sheepish, sad and at the same time as if with an affirmation "Well yes!".
I had the question, "How does he feel there?" but I don't ask it. I notice now as if his lips were painted, made up with a gold, copper color; the eyelids the same. It's strange and a bit pretentious, as I think about the symbolism of this metallic color. I observe and notice that his lips are different from the ones he had. They are more fleshy and hemmed, it is not the same face! I doubt then that it is Christopher! Is he an impostor? I think I'm talking to him about that.
